Following the Sydney GSC meeting invitation to EWG to "... look at more effective working methods for PSOs" the theme for the EWG Seoul meeting (GSC-9)is "Future working methods".
Our methods of working have over the last ten years evolved to a degree that we start to ask ourselves how it was possible to survive with the "antique" ways working we had then. Today we have at our disposal for the standardization work web sites, portals, portable PCs, wireless LANs, advanced mobile phones (smart phones), audio bridges, web collaboration tools, ... We have (at least some of us) free distribution/download of our deliverables via the web. We have DVDs with collections of 10.000+ standards. All developments which have drastically changed our ways of working - as well as the users of our standards way of working!
This evolution will not stop now! But - what direction will it take? Where are we going? How can and will new technical solutions change our working methods?
